Fungal Infection
Fungal infections are very common in India. Fungal infection usually occurs in body folds like underarms and groins. However they do commonly spread to other body areas like buttocks, chest, back, abdomen and sometimes even face. They appear as ring shaped erythematous or red coloured scaly patches that are extremely itchy in nature. They are highly infectious and spread from person to person. Predisposing factors are diabetes mellitus, prolonged illnesses, prolonged courses of antibiotics, lack of hygiene, etc
Treatment includes long courses of oral as well as topical antifungals.
